Discover low-stress bike routes to navigate through Denver, Colorado. Utilize the Bike Streets app by mounting your phone on your bike and unfolding a new perspective of our city.

Aided by volunteers from various corners of Denver who pinpointed their favored neighborhood routes, we collectively embarked on numerous miles of exploration across these streets. Composite efforts of open-source software developers transformed our amassed data into the innovative Bike Streets app.

About this release

• Don't anticipate extravagant features with this initial version of the Bike Streets app. The emphasis remains on a simplified format: a low-stress bike map superimposed on Denver's city map alongside your GPS location. To expedite the app's enhancement, participation in volunteering activities is encouraged.

About the Bike Streets Project

• The inception of the Bike Streets Project stemmed from the dissatisfaction of navigating busy city streets congested with cars at high speeds within designated bike lanes.
• Conversely, neighborhood streets exude a tranquil ambiance, offering a serene bicycling experience suitable for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Such spaces are conducive for comfortable riding sans the inhibitions commonly found on major thoroughfares.
• These designated paths, referred to as "neighborhood bikeways" on the official Denver Bike Map, sparked the idea of extending this concept citywide. The objective is to establish a comprehensive network of such routes spanning neighborhoods like Westwood, Lowry, Globeville, and Wellshire, fostering an immediate and accessible riding experience.
• "Low stress" acknowledges potential challenges as these streets accommodate vehicular traffic without traffic signals in some instances. It is advisable to dismount and walk on the sidewalk at busy intersections or whenever deemed necessary.
